District
Committee Positions
DISTRICT CHAIRMAN- Leads the District & does the following:
-
In conjunction with the District
Executive and District Commissioner, develop District goals.
-
In conjunction with the District
Executive, identify & recruit enough of the right people as operating
committee chairmen
-
Initiate plans and help committee
chairmen an adequate number of members to carry out the functions of the
district
-
Plan (with the district
executive) and preside at district committee meetings
-
Work with the district
commissioner and district executive to stimulate and coordinate the work of
the district, to ensure the success of the Scouting units.
-
In cooperation with the District Executive and District
Commissioner, ensure the completion of District Goals.
DISTRICT CUB SCOUT ACTIVITIES CHAIRMAN-
-
Report to District Cub Scout Chairman
-
Serve as a member of the District
Committee and Council Activities Committee.
-
Prepares and delivers monthly
report for the District Committee meeting.
-
Develop and implement a plan for
activities and civic service projects in District. and evaluate progress in
implementing an effective program.
-
Ensure that activities remain in
accordance with National and Council policy.
-
Recruit and orient enough of the
right kind of people to coordinate and conduct the District Cub Scout
activities and supporter the District Cub Scout activities goals.
-
Support & Strengthen units by
assuring program visibility and balance of activities.
-
Encourage Good Turn ideas for
packs' participation in community projects and civic service activities.
-
Promote proper uniforming at all
special events, particularly high visibility events with media coverage.
-
Assist units in accomplishing
activities and service projects as requested by packs.
-
As required, promote, coordinate
assist with and/or conduct District and Council events such as:
-
For District activities, work
with the District Executive to develop a budget for the activities and for
assistance with the publicity and registration.
DISTRICT BOY SCOUT ACTIVITIES CHAIRMAN-

Report to District Boy Scout Chairman
-
Serve as a member of the District
Committee and Council Activities Committee.

recognition of Boy Scouts within the District including contact with media
as necessary and in accordance with BSA Youth Protection guidelines.
-
Ensure that advancement &
recognition remain in accordance with National Council's requirements and
procedures.
-
Ensure that advancement &
recognition remain in accordance with Greater Cleveland Council's requirements and
procedures.
-
Ensure that all District troops
are aware of changes in Boy Scout advancement requirements.
-
Recruit and orient enough of the
right kind of people for the District Boy Scout advancement committee and
functions.
-
Establish District Boy Scout advancement
goals, develop a plan to achieve goals, and track goal attainment.
-
Create a good working
relationship with Scoutmasters, Troop Advancement Chairs, Unit Commissioners
and other volunteers in the Scouting program
-
Assist District troops to
evaluate progress as requested by the troop..
-
Give special assistance to units
with little or no advancements may be requested by the troop.
-
Coordinate District Merit Badge
Counselor list.
-
Set up and conduct District Eagle
Scout Boards of Review.
-
Promote proper uniforming at all
special events.
-
Assist District Committee and
District troops in answering advancement questions, serving as the District
Chairman's primary advisor on advancement questions.
-
Offer to counsel new unit leaders
about Boy Scout advancement and do so as requested.
DISTRICT CUB SCOUT ADVANCEMENT CHAIRMAN-

Serves as a member of the
District Committee and Council Cub Scout Advancement Committee.

recognition of Tigers, Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts through the Cub Scout
packs and Pack Committee's as may be requested by the packs.
-
Support and strengthen units by
assuring program visibility and balance to advancement.
-
Promote proper uniforming at all
special events.
-

Commissioners to help District troops plan a year-round schedule of
camping and outdoor program events..

Promote use of camper ships.

Develop relationships with
District packs and promote Webelos dens camping with troops as an integral
part of the Webelos-to Scout transition
-
Give guidance on health and
safety concerns.
-
Promote Boy Scout participation
in District and Council camping and outdoor programs.
-
Promote Boy Scout summer camp and
National high-adventure programs.
DISTRICT CUB SCOUT CAMPING CHAIRMAN-
-
Reports to the District Cub Scout
Chairman
-
Serves as a member of the
District Committee and Council Cub Scout Camping Committee
-
Recruit and orient enough of the
right kind of people for District camping functions
-
Prepares and delivers monthly
report for the District Committee meeting.
-
Understand each unit's camping
and outdoor record.
-
If requested, work with Unit
Commissioners to help District packs plan a schedule of camping and outdoor
program events..
-
Promote use of camper ships.
-
Give guidance on health and
safety concerns.
-
Promote Cub participation in
District and Council camping and outdoor programs.
-
Develop District Cub Scout
camping opportunities.
DISTRICT FINANCE CHAIRMAN-
-
Reports to District Chairman
-
Work with District Executive and
Council finance personnel to develop annual District fund raising goals
-
Ensure implementation of council
finance policies
-
Serve as council finance
committee member if so stated in council bylaws.
-
Recruit and train volunteers for
tasks provided by District and/or Council.
-
Carry out the annual district
Friends of Scouting campaign and meet the goal by the target date.
-
Maintain cooperative relationship
with the United Way.
-
Develop prospects and retain
interest of contributors
-
Serve as the lead in planning,
promoting, coordinating and running District special fund raising events
such as the Corporate Pinewood Derby.
-
Support council endowment
development.
DISTRICT BOY SCOUT MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN-

Reports to the District Boy Scout
Chairman

Recruit enough of the right people for the district
membership committee

Serve on the Council
membership/relations committee.

organizers.

Work with district training team

Receives periodic updates to
information from District Committee Chairman abd updates website
accordingly.

Coordinates with Council
Webmaster to update District activites on Council website
DISTRICT POPCORN CHAIRMAN-
-
Reports to the District
Chairman
-
Serves as a member of the
District Committee.
-
Works closely with District
Executive, District Commissioner, Council Popcorn Chairman and Council
Finance Director.
-
Prepare and deliver monthly
report for the District Committee meeting.
-
Develop and implement a plan for
training unit popcorn chairmen.
-
Evaluate progress in implementing
an effective District popcorn sales program.
-
Ensure that popcorn sale
activities are conducted in accordance with National and Council policy.
-
Recruit and orient enough of the
right kind of people to coordinate and conduct the District Popcorn sales
activities.
-
Support and strengthen unit
popcorn sales by assuring program visibility.
-
Promote proper uniforming and
Scout spirit at popcorn store sales.
-
Assist units in accomplishing
popcorn sales activities as requested by units.
-
Coordinate, assist with and/or
conduct District popcorn delivery and returns.
-
Work with District Executive to
develop a budget for activities and for assistance with publicity.
DISTRICT SEA SCOUT COMMODORE-
-
Reports to the District
Chairman
-
Maintains contact with local,
regional, and national Sea Scout Commodores.
-
Attens and participates in
District Sea Scout Skippers Table.
-
Serves as a member of the
District Committee and Council Sea Scout Committee.
-
Prepares and delivers monthly
report about Sea Scout activities for the District Committee meeting.
-
Develop and implement a plan for
activities, recruiting events and civic service projects in support of and
to promote Sea Scouting in the District and evaluate progress in
implementing an effective program.
-
Ensure that District Sea Scout
activities are conducted in accordance with National and Coucil policy.
-
Work with the District Executive
to organize new Ships.
-
Work with Region, Council, and
other Sea Scout Ships to provide training opportunities for new and existing
Sea Scout adult and youth leaders.
-
Promote proper uniforming at all
special events, particularly high visibility events with media coverage.
-
As required, promote, coordinate,
assist with and or conduct District and Council Sea Scout events.
-
In conjunction with the District
Chairman, District Executive and District Commissioner, help to develop
District goals.
-
Stimulate advancement and
recognition of Sea Scouts within the District, including contact with media
as necessary and in accordance with BSA Youth Protection guidelines.
DISTRICT VENTURING CHAIRMAN-

Reports to the District
Chairman
-
Serves as a member of the
District Committee and Council Venturing Committee.

Prepares and delivers monthly
report about all Venturing activities, except for Sea Scout activities, for
the District Committee meeting.
-
Develop and implement a plan for
activities, recruiting events and civic service projects in support of and
to promote Venturing in the District and evaluate progress in implementing
an effective program.
-
Ensure that District Venturing
activities are conducted in accordance with National and Council policy.
-
Work with the District Executive
to organize new units.
-
Work with Council Venturing
training team to provide new units with trained personnel.
-
As required, promote, coordinate,
assist with and/or conduct District and Council Venturing events.
-
In conjunction with the District
Chairman, District Executive and District Commissioner, help to develop
District goals.
