The District Award of Merit is a council award presented
by the Districts. The award is available to any
registered Scouter who renders service of an outstanding
nature in our district The following requirements are
followed nationally: The nominee must be a registered
Scouter. The nominee must have rendered noteworthy
service to youth in the district, as well as service
outside of Scouting. The nature and value of the
noteworthy service may consist of a single plan or
decision that contributed vitally to the lives of large
numbers of youth, or it may have been leadership given
to a small group over an extended period of time.
Consideration must be given to the nominee's position
and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding
service beyond expectations of duty. Leadership of
District events or service on the District Committee is
also considered. The nominee's attitude towards and
cooperation is taken into consideration. Nominations
cannot be considered for posthumous awards.
Please note many volunteers in our District have this
award but are not listed here because they received
their award prior to the formation of the Dover Rockport
District.
